Carrolls' Drum Service

George Philip Carroll is the founder of Carrolls' Drum Service, a quality line of period-related percussion products and publications. He began his early interest in drums by enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy as a musician at the earliest possible age and was drafted to the RCN School of Music. Special assignments followed, including CBC radio and television productions, the Black Watch Royal Highlanders of Canada military band where he served as Drum Sergeant, and The U.S. Army Band where he researched and formed a fife & drum corps for the 3rd Infantry, which is well known today as "The Old Guard". After his time in the Army Band, Carroll became the Musik Master and Drum Major at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. He also worked at Walt Disney World as the Senior Show Coordinator where he founded the Walt Disney Fife and Drum Corps, amoung others. Currently, Major Carroll is the Director of Music for the Civil Air Patrol's only recognized music program.

Carroll decided to build a drum company where the drums that were manufactured would sustain the knowledge he had gained throughout his experiences in the Canadian and American Service Bands. While in the Canadian service, Carroll had been one of the last drummers to use rope tension drums and learned their special maintenance requirements. From this, he has created his signature drum crafting business of quality period-related drum reproductions which he has shared with his sons, Philip and Nathan. Today, their drums have been praised for their authentic light weight, steam-bent wood, and attention to detail; which have been universally welcomed by the drumming community.

Carroll has researched and written numerous articles and excerpts about drums and military music. If you would like to purchase any of Carroll's products, or inquire about his research contact him through email: ropedrum@hotmail.com or by telephone: 703 836 7287.
