Indiana 1846 Model Snare Drum
This is an authentic Civil War drum of a size slightly smaller than the standard 12'' or 13'' x 16'' (shell size).

The tone of this drum is very crisp and the smaller size makes for easy carrying.

Order code: IIND $287.87

13x16 soistmann 1861 model snare drum13'' x 16''
Soistmann 1861 Model Snare Drum
This drum answers the requirement of
12'' or 13'' x 16''. as published by the U.S. government for a drum during the Civil War. The Confederate states had a drum manufactory in Richmond making the exact same size and type of drum with a difference in the finish.

Bright red hoops on a cherry-stained shell and the Soistmann brass tack design are standard with this drum. A "snare fastner" (as refered to a strainer in Elias Howe's book of 1861) is included as an added convenience, they were not always on the origninal drums. Order code: ISOI $395.92

This drum may be orderd (as shown) with the federal eagle beautifully emblazoned on the shell with the U.S. Infantry on a blue background. It is also available on a red background for an Artillery drum, or a Confederate shield on a blue or white shell. Emblazonments are available at an extra cost: Order codes: ISNF $455.92, ISRT $455.92, ISCB $455.92, ISCW $455.92

16x16 york washington artillery snare drum16'' x 16''
York Washington Artillery Snare Drum
Research has shown that drums used during the Revolutionary were typically of square dimensions, the shell being as wide as it was high. Military specifications called for a 1/8th inch thick shell with stout stay hoops glued into the top and bottom of the shell. A 7 or 8 inch glued overlap was then strengthened with a pattern of brass, iron or copper tacks.

A period bracket and hook strainer is standard on this drum.

This drum is finished in a beautiful amber varnish with hoops painted with red milk paint from a colonial formula. Russet ears and the Bunker Hill brass tack design complete the drum.
Order code: I1616 $418.10
